Jerry Seinfeld Strategy To End Procrastination

Jerry Seinfeld is someone we all can learn from when it comes to business, life and how to achieve massive results and later I will share the “Seinfeld Strategy” on how to end procrastination.

I see people everyday who struggle with procrastination and getting things done in their business.

When you first start your business online you will face plenty of mental hurdles, generally lots or procrastination and sometimes outside struggles from family and friends doubting your career path.

If you’re anything like myself it can be tough to battle the day to day grind on top of disciplining yourself to get things done in your business.

For years I procrastinated, spent more time watching over actually doing and wasted endless amounts of time.

I knew from day one I always wanted to create a successful blog, build a big email subscriber list, start a podcast and help a lot of people along the way.

Now I’ve managed to do several of these, but I still have a few I haven’t checked off the list and it’s all from procrastination.

Why Do Some People Crush It while Others Fail?

The difference between successful athletes, entrepreneurs, musicians, artists or anyone who has done something great in their field is consistency.

The people who excel and create phenomenal results do the right things for a longer period of time.

The people who fail or get mediocre results just put in the work initially to get the results.

But…..when life gets tough, when they’re not feeling good, have a bad day, have personal problems or daily life gets in the way they throw in the towel.

The person who truly wants success and loves what they do will always get back in the game and remain consistent no matter how hard life knocks them down.

They know that one day of not doing the things that need to get done can set them back and break the momentum they worked so hard for.

Bruce Lee Said: “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who practiced one kick 10,000 times.”

You see, the person who stays in the game the longest always wins.

We all know this, but why do so many people avoid the things we know we need to do in order to achieve that amazing lifestyle we all set out to get.

What I’m about to reveal to you is a story I read years back and recently reminded of it and it’s what helped me get my start in every business I created.

The person who remains consistent and stays in the game even on the bad days will always pull through.

This simple strategy will help you:

  • Focus on what needs to be done daily.
  • Reward yourself for the small wins so you remain excited.
  • Help you never lose focus.
  • Help you master your craft.

The Seinfeld Strategy

Before we talk about the Seinfeld Strategy let me share the back story and how this all come about.

Years back a young comedian approached Jerry backstage at a club and asked him for advice.

The comedian asked Jerry if he had “any tips for a young comedian starting in the biz”.

So Jerry told him that if you want to become a better comedian you have to create better jokes and if you want to create better jokes you have to write daily.

So Jerry suggested to the young boy to buy a giant wall calendar and a red marker and jerry-seinfeld-stretgyhang the calendar in a place he would see it
everyday.

His task was to make a red X everyday that he completed his writing assignment.

Jerry went on to say “After a few days of making red X’s you will have a chain. You will enjoy seeing that chain, especially when you do the tasks for a few weeks straight. Your only goal is to never break the chain.”

The key here is to not focus on results. Most people never get started because they’re caught up on the outcome.

I hear things like:

  • What if I do all this work with no results.
  • What if I don’t do the right things.
  • I’m not a good writer like you’re.
  • I have no results and no one will trust me.

When I first started I thought like this myself a lot and it held me back from getting started. I was more focused on what could go wrong over how great my life would be once I mastered the skills I needed to get done.

You shouldn’t be focused on results, but focused on being laser like consistent in your business.

For you this could be writing daily, doing videos daily, running paid ads daily or another skill not mentioned.

But….the key is to not stop or take the day off when you’re feeling down, not motivated or having personal problems.

You see, Jerry was writing jokes daily even when he had bad days. Some of those jokes never made it on stage or never ended up on his hit show Seinfeld, but he was practicing creating better jokes by writing them daily.

This is how he went on to earn as much as $267 million in one year and $85 million years down the line after the show was no longer making new episodes.

So if you’re struggling to get things done all you need to do is pick up your own calendar and start building your chain 😉

How To Properly Implement The Strategy

Before I go I want to talk to you about how to best implement the Jerry Seinfeld Strategy to get the best results.

Right now you may be thinking this is a perfect way to hold yourself accountable, but before you jump in hot and heavy you need to be realistic.

I’ve done it myself and I’ve seen several people make the mistake of thinking they can just make a long list of goals they will knock out daily.

I’m all for ambition, but if you set goals that aren’t achievable you will find yourself burned out and frustrated all over again.

Set small tasks you do daily that will result in a big pay off over time. It’s easy to think that we need to have massive amounts of motivation, take tons of action and there will be a big pay off.

However, most people will not be able to keep up that pace no matter how much they desire to create a better lifestyle.

For me my daily routine looks like this:

  • Write 1000 words daily(email, blog, social media)
  • Send email to list(one of the emails could be the blog post).
  • Shoot a video daily
  • Manage or setup new paid ads.
  • Go to the gym

Now for me these tasks all add up to a big thing at the end of every month, but I didn’t start out by doing them all at once.

I made the mistake of trying 😉

Start with one small task at a time and get consistent at getting that task done every single day. Once you get good at that task and you have some spare time you can add something else to the list.

These small tasks will propel your business forward and help you gain momentum over time if you remain consistent.

Don’t make the mistake of not doing anything because it seems like you’re tackling the olympics.

Before you can be an olympic star you must master the small things by doing them day in and day out.

I didn’t get to the point i’m at now by waking up one morning and everything just fell into place.

Those little things you do daily add up to a big thing in the end 😉
